Nasi Ayam Penyet

This spicy goodness is an Indonesian dish  wherein the fried chicken is smashed with a mortar and pestle and served with sides of  cucumber, tempeh and fried tofu with a spoons full of sambal which is a mixture of chilli, anchovies, tomatoes, shallots, garlic, shrimp paste, tamarind and lime juice. although this dish is of Indonesian origin, it is popular among neighboring countries such as malaysia and singapore. I have tried this dish in one of the restaurants in Sabah and i can tell that it's famous for it's Nasi Ayam Penyet judging from the exterior of the restaurant which they revise into an extension with tent roofs and plastic tables and chairs which is by the way, packed with people enjoying their spicy plate of chicken wonder. Maybe one day I may run into a place serving better tasting ayam penyet but for now, this is my best bet! Ayam penyet of Warung Padang Jawa. :)
