My cousin introduced me to this dish recently, she said this dish is of West Malaysian origin and the blue color of the rice is obtained by infusing the rice with some kind of flower.
Last month we went to this restaurant that servers different kinds of Malaysian dish, the restaurant was packed as it was around lunch time when we reached and people were lining up to get their hands on this wonderful dish.
The dish is mainly composed of the cooked blue-colored rice, some fresh vegetable, salted duck eggs and chips as side dishes, chili paste, a choice of fried chicken or fish, topped with some toasted grated coconuts. The rice is surprisingly nice, I never would've imagined flower flavored rice but this dish nails it with some crunch from the vegetable, savory fried chicken, and some chili, having a fill of this dish is such a wonderful experience!
